Survey instruments add a valuable component to Truman’s Assessment Program by providing information from students at varying levels of progress through the university. During Truman Week, first-year students are asked to complete either the College Student Expectations Questionnaire (CSXQ) or the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) Survey – the instruments are rotated every other year. During the junior year, students are sometimes asked to complete the College Student Experiences Questionnaire (CSEQ). Each year, a random sample of freshmen and seniors are asked to complete the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) electronically. As a Truman graduation requirement, seniors complete the Graduating Student Questionnaire (GSQ) in their final semester. An Alumni Survey is also distributed annually to systematically selected cohorts. An Employer Survey is administered triennially.
